Re: A potential safety problem with your Chariot carrier.

Dear Valued Chariot Customer,

This letter is to inform you of a potential safety problem that could affect your 2007 Chariot carrier. It has been determined that a small percentage of the 2007 padded shoulder harnesses were not manufactured correctly. Specifically, a sewing operation was missed during production of a batch of harnesses, such that the 1” webbing was not sewn on correctly. There are 3 locations on each harness where this mistake could have occurred, including with the hidden buckle near the bottom of the harness (where the crotch strap attaches). These potential errors could result in the shoulder straps and/or the hidden crotch strap buckle failing over time with regular use, or immediately in the event of an accident (including if the carrier rolls over). From your warranty card, it appears that you have purchased a carrier that could have this problem. As such, we strongly recommend that you inspect your harness(es) for this problem. Please refer to the attachment for a detailed description of how to identify if your harness(es) is incorrectly sewn. If your harness(es) has this problem, or if you are not sure if it does, please do not use your carrier and contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-262-8651, and we will immediately send you a replacement.

Thank you for your attention to this potential safety issue, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this letter or the attachment, or if you require further information.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
Chariot Carriers Inc.

Dear Valued Chariot Customer,

This letter is to inform you of a product retrofit notice that affects certain models of Chariot carriers. Chariot Carriers Inc. is instituting a no-charge Retrofit Program to owners of the affected child carriers. Our records indicate that you have purchased a Chariot child carrier that may be affected by this Retrofit Program.

Reason for this program.
A potential safety issue has arisen with some models of our child carriers, when converted into jogging or stroller modes, as indicated below. In some situations, the Hollow Plug Glides, a handlebar component, can loosen from the frame and, under specific circumstances, may cause the handlebar to separate from the carrier, creating a potential risk of injury to the occupant(s). Chariot Carriers Inc. is voluntarily conducting this program to provide our customers with the safest and most reliable product.

Which models of child carriers are affected?

Cabriolet CTS
Chauffeur CTS
Cheetah CTS
Cougar CTS Conversion Kits
Cabriolet Jogging Stroller Kits
Chauffeur Jogging Stroller Kits
CTS Stroller Kits

Only 1998-2000 model year carriers with serial numbers ranging from 08/97 - 0000 through 12/00 - 0000 are affected by this issue. The serial number is on a white decal located on the lower frame behind the seat. Only conversion kits with the Wrist Safety Strap attached to a one-piece handlebar are affected.

Since the Cheetahs and Cougars are sold as jogging strollers, this issue affects all of these carriers. This potential safety issue affects the other carriers only if a jogging or stroller conversion kit has been installed. However, as a cautionary measure, this Retrofit Program extends to all affected carriers even if they have not been converted to be used as a jogging stroller or stroller.

What your retailer will do.
At no cost to you, your Chariot dealer will replace both Hollow Plug Glides and, depending on the model and conversion kits that you own, may replace the Wrist Safety Strap.

What we are asking you to do.
If your Chariot carrier meets the above criteria, please stop using your Chariot immediately and return it to the store where purchased for a free retrofit.

If you have sold your Chariot carrier, please contact the new owner and advise them of this Retrofit Program.

If you know of other owners of these Chariot carriers, please advise them of this Retrofit Program.

While participation in this program is not mandatory, we strongly recommend that all owners of the affected product return their carriers to their Chariot dealer for retrofitting as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause you and your family and thank you, in advance, for addressing this important product issue.

If you require any further assistance or information, please contact us at 1-800-262-8651 or send us an E-mail at ask.us@chariotcarriers.com.

Thank You.
